2004
Yesterday, 7/10 the kids and I visited Educated Ferret and new our
foster, Sweetie picked me out to be her mom. We've gotten Sweetie all settled in here, she has her own
room. Sweetie is doing well except that she misses Donna, her shelter mom. She has been sleeping a bit more
than I expected, but I think it's because she's sad. I hope Sweetie feels better in a day or two, she really lives
up to her name.
7/12 - So, today Sweetie seemed happier. She ran around for a bit longer and
she groomed me a little bit. I scheduled a vet appointment for Sweetie and Toby to get their Lupron shots and for Lady to
get checked out for the Adrenal symptoms that she started showing last week. The outcome of this visit is probably going to
be scheduling a time for her to have surgery. :(
Everyone wish her luck if it comes to that.
8/22 - OK. It's been a while. My computer and I have a love hate relationship
going on here, it loves to break and I hate to be unable to get online. Anyway lots has happened since I last updated.
Lady had surgery several weeks ago, which went well, can't tell yet whether she's going
to recover 100% from her adrenal symptoms. Her hair is quite course, but at least she still has most of it, only the tail
is thin.
Then, two weeks after Lady's surgery I took one of the shelter's ferrets, Milo, a big
fuzzy darkeyed white, and brought him up here so he could also have surgery. Ferret count raises to 5 in my 2 bedroom apartment.
On the same day of Milo's surgery, very successful btw his symptoms started to abate virtually right after surgery, I get
ferret number 6.
I had been speaking with a woman in the next town over about finding a home for her
'stinky' ferret baby (upon arrival I smelled him, he smelled like flowery shampoo, not like a ferret at all, nevermind a stinky
one). Well, I offered to take him, or if Lady didn't like him (of course she didn't she hates all ferrets but her two brothers)
bring him to the Educated Ferret in MA. She arrived with The cutest, hugest 5 month old ferret I heve ever met.
I renamed him Ben and loved every minute of the time I had with him over the next two weeks. He was such a good baby, really
smart and easy to get along with, seemed afraid of my ferrets though, even mellow old Toby. I'll get some pics of him up eventually,
Milo and Sweetie too, but my camera's old-school and I haven't finished the film yet.
Friday 8/20 I dropped Milo and Benny off at Donna's, boy am I gonna miss that little
guy! And Donna had a baby ferret who I got to play with, he literally fit entirely into the palm of my hand without
even curling up. Poor little guy should still be with his momma, I didn't hear what happened to her, but she wasn't present.
Then today I packed up the remaining 4 kiddos and we came back home to Vermont, where
I have to get up and go to work Oh so very early in the AM tomorrow. So... TTFN.
New Today 8/27... adding new pictures on the pics page.
Later... OK. Not only did I add a bunch of pictures, I editted lots of my text and added links to larger
pictures. So, if you see a picture and want to see it bigger, click on it, almost all the pictures on this site will enlarge
now.
9/4 Things have settled down, nice to have just 4 fuzzies again. We're all taking a
trip to the vet next week. Lady needs a post-op check-up, Sweetie and Toby need BG checks and Lupron shots and Barrow is acting
weird... so he's gonna get poked and prodded and hopefully we'll find out why.
Still working up the ambition to do that art page, though I have already got an offer for art to got up
on it.
9/25 Well, we went to the vet last week, apparantly Toby and Barr are both normal (their
blood glucose levels are anyway). We didn't end up taking Sweetie's blood sugar cause we couldn't get blood without putting
her to sleep and we were doubtful that she'd wake back up if we did put her under. But she seems to be doing quite fine
on her BG levels anyway, and since her Lupron shot she's been spunky. Lady just got a look over as a post-op visit. Doc said
she was doing well. She still hasn't decided to grow any hair on her tail.
11/19 Whooo Boy! It's been a long while since I last posted.
Lady finally decided to grow a little more hair, on about the last inch of her tail. Mom's saying she looks like a lion
with just the little tuft at the end. Barrow is his same old self. Toby is getting slower and balder, but still seems happy.
Sweetie is holding in there, she's spunky as ever and happy too.
Also, I've got two Albino boys, Matthew and Mark, for a few weeks to have surgery
in Poultney. They went in yesterday for exploratory surgery/ removal of any affected adrenal glands. Matthew had a big old
tumor on his left adrenal gland which Doc removed. Mark's adrenals both looked normal, but Doc took the left out any way.
It's the easier one to take and a slighly higher percent of affected adrenals are the left. Hopefully M & M will
both start to get fuzzy again, and maybe Mark will stop beating on his brother so much. It's actually pretty funny, Mark
weighs a pound less than Matthew, but he is definitely the dominant one.
Until next post...
2005
1/4/5 Well... as to my last surgery boys, Matthew is doing great, but Mark began to have uncontrollable
seizures and needed to be put down. Poor guy.
My guys are doing pretty well. Barrow is his same old self, what a good boy. Toby has gotten
fat and is very bald, but he's happy. Lady has mellowed out a bit and has a less naughty mouth as well as again having a fully
( if somewhat scruffly )tail again. Last, but not least Sweetie is still hanging in there. She's still spunky despite age
and illness.
As for myself I had a fun Holiday, although I'm still catching up on sleep. Also Mom and I are
planning our next cruise (I'm already thinking about warm weather, does that make me a bad snowboarder? ;op).
1/12/05
Added a new picture in the Art section today. The image is a sketch by Donna Spirito that is included
in the Educated Ferret's 2005 Calender/ coloring book. Included in the composition are two actions shots of Barrow (my albino) as
well as another ferret of Donna's acquaintance (the sable).
1/13/05
OK. Major overhaul has gone on here, some of it was just rearranging, and ordering (you guys
know I have a hard time throwing stuff out, I am a packrat after all), but there is a deal of new stuff too.
1/25/5
Again with the changing of lots of stuff. Added a whole new ferret picture page, bigger and better images, picture
of my friend Kelly to pic page 3, a page with links to all the picture pages. Will be workin on scanning snorkeling pictures
from the last cruise. Hopefully I;ll get these posted before my next cruise in April ;).
On another note. I've actually been seriously looking into buying a house. This rent thing is no good, and I'm
sick of throwing away hundreds of dollars every month paying rent to someone else.
2/3/5
So does anyone know if the groundhog saw his shadow yesterday? I expect he did, since it's only Feb, but who knows.
I've added some cute pictures of Sweetie having a bath. She's such a good girl, she's very old and very sick, but
always happy to be with her people.
Building some custom beds at work. It's interesting, though very thinking involved. I think I like the customizing
kind of stuff, as much as it can be irritating with say anna liffey chairs, it keeps me mentally busy and the time flies by.
When the bell rang today it only felt like lunch time. So nice to finally have a job I like.
Looks like Dave may quit, so that they won't have to let Bob go. It's nice of him, he feels like the job is Bob's,
although Bob quit before Dave started. Also, Dave suspects that no one but CSF would hire and keep Bob around. Maybe
so, Bob reminds me a lot of Billy Lovat. In any case Dave would be taking a lot of time off to work on his log cabin, and
he says he "doesn't need to work". WELL! Wouldn't that be nice if we could all say that?
2/25/5
Since last post Sweetie passed on. She was at the end of her time and we put her down 2/12 so
that her dying would be quicker and painless. Rest in peace Sweetie girl, you deserve it brave, sweet baby.
Dave is in Vale this week with his son skiing. Envy envy...
The weekend Sweetie died I picked up another ferret for adrenal surgery. Smokey is a tiny little
white girl with a feisty, but very sweet attitude. She had surgery last friday 2/18 and since Dr. Scott was leaving for vacation
the next day we had to arrange a half way meeting to get her back to MA so she could be near a vet, or Donna in case
of an emergency. Her foster parents, Billy and Patty were nice enough to meet me in Rockingham and bring her to Donna's. She
recovered very quickly and was able to go home the next day. Yay Dr. Scott! Another great surgery you're our hero.
3/23/05
Gonna be 23 tomorrow. Still house hunting. I do have some interesting prospects.
Psyched for the cruise. Planning a B-day party for 4/2..... not too talkative today I guess.
4/19/5
I am envisioning some major editting. Dun dun dun..... ok, prolly last publishing til I finish
the editting, may take me a while..... til then......
4/21/05
Happy Birthday Mom!
OK, major editting is done, some small stuff is still being attended to as I catch things I've
missed. I still want to overhaul the Hot Sh%t page (formerly Hot Stuff) but haven't any good ideas for it. Also in the near
future I will be adding some new pages with Arizona and cruise '05 vacation pictures. Until then.....
4/24/05
Arizona Trip '03 pages have been added, click on the picture of me and Marvin on horseback to
go see the new stuff.
Worked Saturday :(..... had to make up for a sick day Wednesday. Then today I hung out with my
new friend Jeremy. We played some pool (ha ha at the bowling alley) and I actually remembered how to make some of the shots
I used to be good at.
I should get to bed work bright and early.
5/1
Vacation stuff is up, click on the stingrays to go to the Cruise '05 page. Mostly all
of the cruise stuff is up, but I do expect more pictures next time I see Cathy so look again in a few weeks for new stuff.
5/17
I have fixed what typos I saw on the Cruise pages. If there are more please let me know. Short post
today 'cause I need sleeeeeep
6/1/05
Put up pics of Kelly's garduation dinner today.
7/31
....And although my tattoo has been done for a while I've just taken a picture of it recently.
You can find that here, on the home page for now, or here Art Page 2 .
11/29
Well now. I't s been ages since I last posted. Since then I've bought a house. I moved
into said new house. Got a Shawn. Had a housewarming party. Did Turkey Day w/ both Fams.
The ferrets have their own room here, which Lady and Barrow LOOOVE. They are out in their
room all the time, cage-free ferrets. Toby is exhiled to Ramseys' little cage much of the day as he's become a notorious illegal
pooper. Oh, hadn't posted while I had Ramsey. Ramsey was a ferret that Donna sent up to me for adrenal surgery. His adrenal
tumor proved to be inoperable, a huge right adrenal and so I volunteered to foster him for what we suspected would bea
very short life. It did end up rather short, but Ramsey was an awesome ferret, very cuddly and unusual but desirable
trait among my ferrets. Ramsey is the first furkid I have buried on my property.
Other than dying ferrets I'm also enjoying our new house. Mom and I got a lot of gardening
done before snow and with help from Shawn I put a new roof on the house. There are more home improvements on the way, but
the cash will have to appear first.
12/24
Christmas Eve. Merry Christmas everyone!
Today I'm doing a little rearranging and adding the long overdue Roatan pictures. I also added
a Winnie, Weezie and Gunther section.

12/3/06
Wow. Ok, so it's been amlost a year since I last posted. Since then I've been
pretty busy. I've done some work on the house. I went on a vacation to WDW with my parents and my, now ex-boyfriend but
still good friend, Shawn. I will try to get up a few of the pics from the trip soon. I still work at Shackleton but I am currently
stuck doing office work since I cut my finger on the tablesaw in September. Just after my last
post, or maybe at the same time I lost Toby and just last month I had to have Barrow put down. He was having seizures which
were going to kill him it ws kinder to let him go right away. Lady is still around though she is adrenal again. This time
because of her age and because she's already had the 'easy' adrenal gland removed we are not going to treat her. I'm going
to spoil her as long as she is happy and reasonably healthy and when it is time she'll join her brothers.
On a better note with furkids, the news is not all bad. Quite a few dogs have come through the house here. First, Cash and
Kobe (aka Duke) came here as foster-to-adopt dogs from Boxer Angels Rescue. Cash has been here ever since, he picked me to
be his human. I just love Cash he's just right. Kobe did not work out as he had seperation anxiety, but he did go on
to find his own forever home. Next, Lilly came to us from Second Chance Boxer Rescue. She picked Shawn as her human and has
left with him since Shawn and I broke up. The latest addition to the family is Ben. I got Ben as a little baby from
a nice lady up north and Cash adores him, they play all the time. If you'd like to see dog pictures check out the new dog
page; The Boys .
