Since I had quite a few links to different
vacations scattered all over the site I decided to put them all on one page. Click on the photos to go to the corresponding
vacation page.
In the Spring of 2003 Mom, Gram and I took a trip to
Arizona. We flew down to Phoenix and then over a week drove a big loop around a large part of the state in a rented Oldsmobile
Allero. We did a lot of sight seeing and toured several botanical gardens and other attractions. One of the first stops
was at Tuscan Botanical Gardens where there is an enclosure that you walk through with live hummingbirds. We had
been there before on a trip when I was little, but Mom and Gram had enjoyed it so much that we returned. The hummingbirds
at Tucsan Botanical Gardens were amazing to see, but we got a big surprise when I dragged the other two to Karchner Caverns.
While waiting for the next cave tour to depart we saw several species of hummingbirds even closer up than at the walk through
exhibit. On top of the great hummingbirds we saw the Karchner Caverns tour itself was awesome. The cave was only recently
opened to the public and many measures had been taken to keep the cave 'alive' despite being a tourist attraction. It was a night and day difference from the Collosal Caverns tour we did a few days earlier.
During the trip we also visited several Native American
reservations, there are many beautiful sights to be seen and very unique shopping with all the native crafts being sold. At Canyon DeChelley we took a jeep tour with a guide who was part of one of the tribes that
still live in the canyon. This was another great adventure. The only access to the canyon is to actually jeep up the river
that cut the canyon from the plateau. When we reached Monument Valley we split up and did seperate tours. Mom and Gram
did another jeep tour in the valley, also with a Native American guide which they said was wonderful. I took a horseback ride
around the park. It was a really special trail ride, not the usual long line of folks who have hardly ever ridden before,
it was just me and my guide Marvin. After the ride around Monument Valley
the trip started to wind down and we made our way back to Phoenix and the airport and flew home.
In the spring of 2005 I went on
a cruise with my mom and our friend Cathy. One of the most exciting things we did on the trip was going swimming with stingrays
and sharks in Belize.
In the summer of '05 I took a weekend trip to
Las Vegas. There really is a lot to see and to do out there besides gamble. Some of the coolest things I saw were the
acrobats in the casinos, the lion exhibit at the MGM Grand and the Aquarium at the Bellaggio.
