Cozumel is definitely one of my very favorite ports. There are lots of things
to do there; great snorkelling and diving, lots of shopping with great deals on the Mexican silver, drinking at Carlos and
Charlie's and Senor Frogs and many more things I would love to try if we ever go to Cozumel for a whole week. The people in
San Miguel are also very friendly everybody's your amigo, though most folks on the streets of the city want to sell you something
Carlos and Charlie's and Playa Corona were much more relaxed.
We started off the day with shopping. Last trip we had found a pendant which mom was
regretting not having purchased. I was certain I could find the same store again, and I did although it was a longer walk
than I had expected. We didn't find the exact same pendant, of course, but there was a similar one which mom really liked
and which I bought for her. I also purchased several pairs of earrings for myself, which were the only things I
knew ahead of time that I really wanted to get on this trip. After this successful shopping we headed back to
the ship, on the way we found mom a turquoise cowboy hat to replace her old one which had dissappeared earlier onboard
(he he Oops!). Once back on board, we changed into bathing suits, got out the snorkel gear and headed back out to get
a taxi. We asked the taxista to bring us to Dzul Ha, but he insisted that Playa Corona has better snorkelling, we relented
and went there instead.
This was to be our first snorkelling with Cathy and we soon discovered that she is afraid
of 'little fish'. She was actually chased out of the water by some small striped guys that mom and I thoroughly enjoyed. This
didn't bode well for snorkelling with the sharks and rays in Belize, which was something Cathy was really excited to do. She
was a trooper however and made several short trips out among the scary little fish before throwing in the towel.
